Black Butte Fuel Break

FUELS REDUCTION, FIRE SAFETY, FORESTRY, AND COMMUNITY RESILIENCY

The Black Butte fuel break is designed to create a more fire safe condition on Michigan California Timber Company lands next Union Pacific Right of Way lands. The 200ft wide fuel break treatment area will encompass around 34 acres. The project will thin trees to a spacing of 15-25 feet, remove snags, and remove all brush.

The project is located adjacent to the City of Weed and is designed in conjunction with CAL FIRE and MCTC to help protect residents and the forest in the event of a wildfire starting within the railroad corridor.

Work was completed on this project Fall 2020.
