HyDAS stations online

by perry on September 17, 2020

Two HyDAS Stations installed this summer with DWR funding are up and running. HyDAS is short for Hydrology Data Acquisition System. The new stations are located high up in the watershed near the Goosenest Mountain and near the Bolam Glacier on the north side of Mt. Shasta. They were installed with assistance from NRCS, the Klamath and Shasta T National Forests, and the DWR.  Here is a brief write up with pictures.

They will augment the existing network of flow and precipitation measuring stations throughout the Shasta Valley.  This is important for improving our scientific knowledge about hydrology in general and also specifically will be useful for the groundwater modeling efforts underway by the Siskiyou County Irrigation and Flood Control District’s Groundwater Sustainability Plan or GSP.
