Groundwater Study Moving Along

by perry on March 1, 2021

The Shasta Valley Groundwater Sustainability Advisory Committee has been working diligently to meet California’s deadlines for a Groundwater Sustainability Plan (GSP). Recently, the Advisory Committee met via Zoom to discuss the progress and next steps with the Siskiyou County Natural Resources staff and UCD and private consultants.

The Shasta Valley RCD is collecting data from monitoring locations throughout the basin to assist with hydrologic modeling which is needed to determine IF the Shasta Valley groundwater basin is being used and managed in a sustainable manner.

The Shasta Valley Groundwater Sustainability Plan, draft Chapter 3 – Water Quality & Subsidence Sustainable Management Criteria, is available for review. The draft is attached and can also be found at this link https://www.co.siskiyou.ca.us/naturalresources/page/shasta-valley-gsp-chapters. Please use the provided comment reviewer form to record your comments.

The deadline to send in comments is COB March 16, 2021, instructions are found on the Reviewer Form document. Verbal comments can be provided during the March 17 Scott Valley groundwater advisory committee meeting.

For more information and presentations from that meeting, please click here to be redirected to the Siskiyou County Groundwater pages. Meetings are scheduled monthly and are open to the public.
