CIMIS stations online

by perry on December 11, 2019

The Shasta Valley Resource Conservation District (SVRCD) is pleased to announce the implementation of two new California Irrigation Management Information System (CIMIS) stations in the Shasta Valley. SVRCD has worked closely with the Department of Water Resources (DWR) and local stakeholders to bring these important irrigation tools to the community. The primary function of a CIMIS station is to calculate the amount of water lost through the processes of evaporation and transpiration (ET). By accurately measuring the amount of water lost through ET, irrigators can be sure to replace an equal amount in order to maintain the desired soil moisture in their fields.

You can access the Montague CIMIS Station #260 and the Gazelle CIMIS Station #261 at:

Funding for this project is provided by the Department of Water Resources Prop 1 Sustainable Groundwater Planning (SGWP) grant program.
